NGFL
Overtime
The NGFL has two exceptions to the GHSA overtime rules:
1. Once an end of the field is chosen for OT play, all OT periods are played at that end of the field.
2. There is no requirement to go for two points starting in the 3rd OT period.
Starting the Clock After Change of Possession
On a change of possession, the clock starts on the “ready” without consideration of the preceding play.
Example 1: 4th down. A fails to make the line to gain and B is awarded a first down. The clock starts on the ready.
Example 2: 4th down. A throws an incomplete pass and B is awarded a first down. The clock starts on the ready.
Time Between Games
Typically, NGFL games are scheduled to start at 9, 11, 1, 3, 5 & 7. If you complete a game prior to the scheduled start time of the next game, the next game is to start at its scheduled time:Example: You complete the 11:00AM game at 1:15PM. The next game will start at 1:30PM.
If you complete a game late and have only 15 minutes until the start of the next game, the Referee and Umpire are to immediately meet with the coaches and gather the appropriate information for the next game. Captains are to be on the sideline 4-minutes prior to kickoff.Halftime is 10 minutes.
Deaf Players
The interpreter for a deaf player can be in the huddle with the coach during time outs.
Ejections
If it becomes necessary to eject a player record his:
GISA
Numbering
GIHSA does not require there to be five players on the offensive line numbered 50 - 79. Pass reception eligibility is determined strictly by position.
Example: A95 is an interior lineman. A55 is on the end of the line.
1. This is a legal formation
2. A55 is an eligible pass receiver due to his position.
